Salt Dough Ornaments
Prognosis: Excellent (if you’re not looking for perfection)
I followed these instructions here. The recipe calls for 4 cups of flour, 1 cup salt and 1.5 cups of warm water. I needed about 1/4 cup more water to get the dough to mix. These were easy enough to do. I added a little flair by stamping the ornaments before baking with mixed results (see photos below). The original author suggested cooking at slower temps for longer to avoid the ornaments from puffing. I baked these all at the same temp and on the same rack and a couple puffed up anyways. The directions suggest decorating with paint. I had a vision of glossy white ornaments hanging on my tree, but that dream ended when I realized I would need 3-4 coats of paint to achieve that affect. I just sealed them with modge podge and called it done.
Treatment Plan: Make these with family. It was a fun activity to do with my mom and toddler.
