Best Paint By Numbers
Took a family photo and turned it into fine art. Purchasing and uploading photos was easy at bestpaintbynumbers.com. I choose this company because they offer more size variety than most other paint by number options. My thought was if I liked it, I wanted to make a large one to hang over the sofa, but I’m feeling good about my modest sized piece of art. They offer kits with 24, 36 or 48 colors. I went with the middle option of 36 colors. Best Paint By Numbers also offers a DIY frame and set of nicer paint brushes that I purchased. Glad I did. The 3 paint brushes that are including in the kit would probably get the job done, but were not as high quality as the additional set. Stretching the canvas on the frame before you paint is key. (The company suggests that you get someone to help you with this part- I got my husband.)
It took about 2 weeks for my kit to arrive. Everything fit into one tidy box.
The first step was putting together the frame, stretching the canvas and stapling it to the frame. I’m lucky and have an artsy and handy husband that helped me with this part. Then, the paints need to be labeled with their numbers. The kit also came with a reference copy of the photo that you could use to read the numbers. The numbers are also printed on the canvas, but some of them are a little too small to read.
The painting took me a little over a month working on it about 30-45 minutes most days. I’ll definitely need to go over some of the lighter colors again as the lines and numbers or still showing in a few places. This was overall a fun and relaxing project, that I’ll probably do again.
